Decorative Castings
Ken lovingly crafts his master sculptures out of an oil-based clay, allowing him time to distill the essence of the subject he’s working on as well as making the master sculpture more compatible with the casting process.
A mould of the sculpture is then hand-crafted in urethane rubber using various processes in order to preserve all the details of the original model.
Ken then mixes concrete to his own recipes and creates castings of his sculptures. The multitude of combinations of grinding and polishing, different aggregates and pigments, acid stains and different sealers create a wide variety of surface finishes and appearances in the resulting castings.
