Artist Notes:
.......Memory is a voice from the past, urging us to remember our connection to the natural and spiritual world, and to regain our balance in our modern lifestyles.
.......Inspired by the Norse god Odin's ravens, Huginn (Thought) and Muninn (Memory), the life-sized raven is created from strips of welded steel, fabricated so as to have a rich texture - almost as though the piece was molded from clay with the artist's finger marks still evident. The piece is then heat treated by hand to give it the iridescent appearance.
.......The raven is perched on a weathered sandstone base, which is inscribed with the Triskele. The Triskele is a neolithic symbol which represents the connection between the three earthly realms - land, sky and water. Each aspect always flowing outward and returning to the point from which it started.
